This course is designed to introduce basic Myofascial techniques. We will explore
fascial restrictions caused by injury, holding patterns, and stress, and learn
how to bring release to the whole system. Students will develop their relationship
with the fascia through techniques including energy work as well as deep tissue
work. The ultimate goal is to expand therapists’ skills and integrate
Myofascial into any other current practices.

In this course, students will review the fundamental lessons of Myofascial Release. Demonstrations and hands-on exchanges will allow students to explore a deeper experience of fascia release and its role in holistic healing. New areas of study include techniques in the side-lying position, fascial mapping, and myofascial trigger points. In the final hands-on practicum, students will integrate these new skills into their current massage techniques so they can effectively offer a more therapeutic treatment to their clients. Prerequisite: Basic understanding of Myofascial Release

Take part in a review of Myofascial Release techniques. Review Myofascial Release
concepts, practice Myofascial Release techniques, and receive Myofascial Release
treatments. Bring your questions and experiences. This class will be offered
once each quarter for students who have completed Myofascial Release Level V.

This class will explore the nuances of connective tissue involved in common
and chronic back pain complaints. Students will learn advanced tissue-release
techniques specific to the upper, middle, and lower back. Through hands-on practice,
students will sharpen their skills of sensing restriction, and facilitating
release. The knowledge gained in this seminar is easily integrated into common
massage techniques, and will greatly improve a therapist’s ability to
alleviate pain and change chronic pain patterns for their clients!

Headaches and TMJ pain are caused from a variety of sources, including fascial
restriction, holding patterns, and life stress. This class will explore some
of these pain sources, and students will learn techniques that address fascial
and energetic restrictions, in regions directly related to the neck, the jaw,
sinuses, and the cranium. The approach will involve a great deal of hands-on
practical experience, coupled with pre and post assessment techniques. In addition,
these techniques are widely used in self-care for the therapist!
