  • A September 2002 press release from the NCBTMB says the organization has seen a 25% rise in certification every year since 1996.

  • The American Institute of Stress reports as much as 75 to 90% of doctor visits are related to stress, with an estimated cost to industry of 200 billion to 300 billion dollars a year.
  • The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates there are more than 700,000 lost workday injuries and illnesses related to musculoskeletal disorders each year, costing 20 billion dollars a year in workers compensation.

  • The Miami Touch Therapy Institute has also done research on the healing powers of massage in the workplace. They say just 15 min of massage a week showed decreased job anxiety and problems were solved in less time and with fewer errors.
  • Every year more companies are offering massage therapy. Places like hospitals, law firms, and major companies such as Boeing, Apple Computer, PepsiCo, Sony Music, and United Airlines.

Massage Therapy and the Medical Community
